ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT:
These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ). The Job holders report to a Head of the Unit, Chief or Information Technology Officer, or the designate.
At this level job holder are expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities requiring interpretation of standard guidelines/practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other staff.
JOB PURPOSE:
To deliver high quality technical support, system and data maintenance across a range of areas, in order to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

Carry out system maintenance tasks, such as performing monitoring tasks, running system diagnostics, and system optimization, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use.

Maintain technology, including standard repairs, configuration, and storage, in accordance with data security and access controls to ensure IT equipment required for WFP staff is available.
-
Prepare files and systems for inventory and archives, such as website content and directories, to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
-
Allocate tasks to other colleagues, ensuring that tasks are delivered to agreed standards and deadlines, to support the effective delivery of services.
-
Respond to a variety of queries about technology and systems in order to assist WFP staff to deliver their services.
-
Resolves support calls related to WFP standard software and hardware including Office 365 Products, email, cloud services, operating systems, laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, smartphones etc.
-
Perform routine deployments of endpoint operating system, applications, including testing and the identification of problems, to contribute to the effective functioning of technology.
-
Install, operate and maintain telecommunications systems and equipment, to ensure optimal services in compliance with standard operations procedures.

Support and implementation of physical installations and removal of structured cabling components, cabinets, pathway systems (cable tray), move equipment, racks, and related IT infrastructure equipment for offices
-
Radio Communication installation and maintenance especially VHF, UHF & HF Radios.

Perform other duties as required.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:

Has experience resolving more complex technical issues.
-
Has worked with head of units in defining requirements for functional area.
-
Has experience with the application of client services standards to resolve or escalate clients’ service problems.
-
Has experience on cloud-based platform service provision.
-
Has experience on teleconference and video conference management.
-
Has experience on systems and network operations(NOC).
-
Has experience on IT support on multifaceted working environment.
-
High school qualification and additional advantage with or equivalent background in Computer Science, Information Telecommunication, Business Administration, Engineering, or related area. Training in cabling installation, IT service management and Networking field.
Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible technical experience in IT or a university degree with 3 years of technical experience in a related area. Specifically, experience in LAN, WAN, WLAN, telephony systems, teleconference and video conference installation, and troubleshooting, Office 365 desktop applications support, Microsoft Active Directory Infrastructure, intune/MDM, MFA, IT Helpdesk support, cabling/fiber optics, and IT asset management.
STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable. A university degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is desirable.
Language: General Service (Headquarters): Fluency (level C) in English language. Fluency (level
C) or intermediate knowledge (level B) of another official language may be required depending on the location of the post or area of responsibility.
General Service (Field): Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
