Living Goods is seeking an experienced Director, Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships to provide strategic leadership across advocacy, government relations, donor engagement, health financing, and strategic partnerships in Kenya while contributing to regional and global influence.

Job Purpose

The Director, Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) responsible for leading Living Goods Kenya’s advocacy, policy influence, strategic partnerships, donor engagement, and resource mobilization agenda.

The role combines 70% Kenya-focused leadership with 30% regional and global representation, positioning Living Goods as a recognized thought leader while strengthening government partnerships and influencing health policy across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy, Leadership & Department Management

• Lead the development and execution of Living Goods Kenya’s advocacy and strategic partnerships strategy.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for the Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships team.
• Build organizational capacity in stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and political influence across departments.
• Oversee departmental planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation, learning (MEL), and financial accountability.
• Promote collaboration across Program Delivery, Digital Health, Communications, and other internal teams.

2. Advocacy & Policy Influence

• Represent Living Goods on national and county-level policy forums, steering committees, and executive boards.
• Build and maintain high-level relationships with government ministries, the National Treasury, Council of Governors, and other strategic institutions.
• Influence policy development and implementation to strengthen community health systems.
• Build partnerships with civil society organizations, private sector organizations, and development partners.
• Serve as Living Goods’ primary media and external spokesperson.
• Lead evidence-based communications, including policy briefs, white papers, and opinion articles.

3. Donor Engagement & Resource Mobilization

• Lead strategic relationships with bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic, and private-sector donors.
• Collaborate with the Global Business Development, Advocacy & Communications team to develop fundraising strategies and donor proposals.
• Advance domestic resource mobilization and health financing initiatives for community health programs.
• Support government budgeting, costing, and financing of primary healthcare investments.

4. Regional & Global Representation

• Contribute to Living Goods’ regional advocacy strategy and policy positioning.
• Build strategic regional partnerships and coalitions supporting community health and primary healthcare.
• Represent Living Goods at regional and international forums, including:
  • Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC)
  • CPHIA
  • World Health Assembly
• Promote knowledge sharing and evidence-based advocacy across regional networks.
• Support country teams in accessing global financing mechanisms and strategic funding opportunities.

Requirements

Education

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, International Relations, Health Economics, or a related field.

Experience

• 10–15 years of progressive senior leadership experience in advocacy, government relations, public affairs, donor engagement, or global health.
• Proven experience leading advocacy and policy initiatives at country and regional levels.
• Demonstrated success securing institutional funding and building strategic partnerships.
• Extensive experience engaging government leaders, development partners, and multilateral organizations.
• Strong understanding of global health financing mechanisms including Global Fund, Gavi, and the World Bank.
