<p>The Clinical Officer Specialist – Dermatology (Clinical Dermatologist) at Tibu Health is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based outpatient dermatological care. This role involves managing chronic skin conditions, executing minor surgical and aesthetic procedures, and ensuring seamless patient care across our physical clinic and mobile/home-based health delivery models.A core requirement of this role is operating strictly within the legal framework set by the Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya, maintaining a sharp awareness of clinical boundaries, and executing timely escalations for procedures that fall outside the independent scope of a specialist clinical officer.</p>
<h2 id="tasks">Tasks</h2>
<p>1. Clinical Assessment &amp; Outpatient Care</p>
<ul>
<li>Perform comprehensive dermatological examinations, history taking, and targeted diagnostic checks for both pediatric and adult populations.</li>
<li>Diagnose and manage chronic or acute dermatological and venereological profiles (e.g., severe acne, atopic eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, melasma, and standard cutaneous infections).</li>
<li>Formulate personalized, evidence-based therapeutic treatment plans utilizing approved national clinical guidelines and formulary-compliant topical or systemic medications.</li>
</ul>
<p>2. Authorized Independent Procedures</p>
<ul>
<li>Perform primary diagnostic interventions including punch/shave skin biopsies, skin scrapings for mycological analysis, and Wood’s lamp evaluations.</li>
<li>Execute minor surgical and therapeutic interventions such as cryosurgery (liquid nitrogen ablation) for viral warts, skin tags, and benign lesions.</li>
<li>Conduct specialized intermediate aesthetic interventions including microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy), superficial-to-medium chemical peels, and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for hair or skin rejuvenation under established clinical protocols.</li>
<li>Conduct full-body surface skin mappings and provide patient education on basic photoprotection and chronic condition flare-up prevention.</li>
</ul>
<p>3. Clinical Boundaries &amp; Mandatory Escalation Protocols</p>
<ul>
<li>Aesthetic Limitations: Strictly refrain from independent, un-proctored deployment of high-risk cosmetic injectables—including Botox® (neuromodulators), Juvéderm®/Restylane® (deep dermal fillers), and high-power structural biostimulators (Sculptra®/Radiesse®)—unless directly supervised or authorized under a collaborative framework signed by a Lead Consultant Dermatologist.</li>
<li>Surgical &amp; Diagnostic Limitations: Escalate suspected malignant or complex atypical lesions (e.g., advanced melanoma or basal cell carcinoma requiring deep surgical margins) to a Consultant Dermatologist or plastic surgeon.Complication Management: Immediately invoke emergency protocols and escalate any sub-surface clinical anomalies, unexpected tissue necrosis, or severe drug eruptions to the Lead Consultant Dermatologist or Medical Director.</li>

<h2 id="requirements">Requirements</h2>
<p>Role Requirements &amp; Technical Qualifications</p>
<ul>
<li>Academic Foundation: Diploma in Clinical Medicine &amp; Surgery from a recognized training institution.</li>
<li>Specialized Training: Higher Diploma in Dermatology and Venereology from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) or an equivalent institutional framework approved by the COC.</li>
<li>Professional Registration: Active registration and a valid, current practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya.</li>
<li>Clinical Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive post-qualification clinical experience, with at least 2 years explicitly focused within a dedicated dermatology department or specialized aesthetic clinic.</li>
<li>Procedural Competency: Documented logbook or proven clinical proficiency in minor skin surgery, cryotherapy, and basic aesthetic resurfacing interventions.</li>
</ul>
<p>Essential Non-Clinical Skills</p>
<p>1. Digital Literacy &amp; Tech-Savviness</p>
<ul>
<li>Tibu Health is a tech-forward platform; the candidate must demonstrate high proficiency in navigating multi-channel Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications, scheduling systems, and telemedicine tools.</li>
<li>Ability to cleanly manage virtual or remote follow-up assessments using digital dermatoscopic image tracking.</li>
</ul>
<p>2. Patient Empathy &amp; Compassionate Communication</p>
<ul>
<li>Skin health deeply impacts psychological well-being. The candidate must possess exceptional therapeutic communication skills to handle sensitive chronic conditions (such as vitiligo, severe alopecia, or acne vulgaris) without inducing anxiety or stigma.</li>
<li>Clear, transparent communication regarding procedural risks, expected clinical outcomes, and post-procedure downtime.</li>
</ul>
<p>3. Operational Adaptability (Omni-channel Flexibility)</p>
<ul>
<li>Comfort and resourcefulness in transitioning between standard physical clinic environments and corporate environments.</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills to manage a mobile medical kit, ensuring correct cold-chain logistics for sensitive injectables or clinical agents while on call.</li>
</ul>
<p>4. Team Collaboration &amp; Professional Integrity</p>
<ul>
<li>A low-ego mindset focused on collaborative care; the ability to work cohesively alongside Consultant Dermatologists, primary care nurses, and digital customer support teams.</li>
<li>Strong adherence to medical ethics, patient data privacy laws (Data Protection Act of Kenya), and strict accountability for tracking medical consumables inventory.</li>
