Group Chef Trainer | Luxury Boutique Lodge Group | Tanzania / Kenya

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Group Chef Trainer for a luxury boutique lodge group operating across Tanzania and Kenya.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled culinary professional with a strong background in luxury hospitality, training and kitchen operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing culinary teams, maintaining exceptional food standards and supporting kitchen operations across multiple properties within the group.

Package

• Salary: USD 2,500 – USD 3,000 nett per month DOE
• Live-in position
• Location: Tanzania / Kenya

The Role

The Group Chef Trainer will oversee culinary training and development across the lodge portfolio, ensuring consistency, innovation and excellence in all food offerings. This role requires extensive travel between properties and a hands-on approach to mentoring chefs, implementing standards and driving continuous improvement within the kitchens.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement culinary training programmes across all properties
• Mentor and coach kitchen teams to achieve exceptional culinary standards
• Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation and service delivery across the group
• Assist with menu development, recipe standardisation and seasonal updates
• Conduct kitchen audits and evaluate operational performance
• Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of kitchen staff
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health regulations
• Monitor stock control, food costs and waste management procedures
• Introduce innovative culinary techniques and industry best practices
• Work closely with lodge management teams to enhance guest dining experiences
• Travel regularly between properties in Tanzania and Kenya

Requirements

• Previous experience in a senior culinary leadership role within luxury lodges, hotels or resorts
• Proven experience in training and developing culinary teams
• Strong knowledge of international cuisine, food trends and menu development
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Experience managing food costs, stock control and kitchen operations
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to work independently and across multiple locations
• Relevant culinary qualification essential
• Valid passport and willingness to travel extensively
