Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tailoring and alteration services on clothing (hemming, resizing, repairing seams, adjusting lengths, etc.).
  • Take and record accurate body measurements for custom-fitting garments.
  • Fit garments on customers, note required adjustments, and provide expert advice on fit and style.
  • Use sewing machines, hand-sewing techniques, and pressing tools to complete alterations neatly and on time.
  • Handle delicate fabrics and materials with care to avoid damage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, keeping tools and materials in proper condition.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about pricing, alteration timelines, and garment care.
  • Manage orders and ensure all alteration jobs are completed before the promised deadlines.
  • Assist in minor retail duties such as attending to customers, displaying garments, and handling transactions when needed.
  • Follow all safety and hygiene procedures for sewing equipment and materials.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience as a tailor, seamstress, or alterations specialist.
  • Proficiency in sewing, cutting, fitting, and garment construction.
  • Good understanding of different fabrics and tailoring techniques.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, precision, and pride in quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple orders.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in tailoring or fashion design is an advantage.
